The happiness of being told "thank you" directly.

That is the rewarding part of working in the Information Systems Department.

Information Systems Office and MAI Laboratory

Chief

Kunpei Takasaki

Takasaki, who joined the company in April 2019, has supported Coremix through information systems-related work (he currently also serves as an engineer in the MAI Laboratory, which is part of the research and development department). We asked Takasaki to tell us about the work of the Information Systems Office and the features of Coremix.

Why I wanted to become a core mixer

I first learned about Core Mix in early 2019 when I received an invitation from a recruitment agency. I love manga and anime, and coincidentally, I was watching the City Hunter anime series at the time. I also saw City Hunter the Movie: Shinjuku Private Eyes, which was showing in cinemas at the time. I remember being surprised when I saw the company name in the film's end credits, realizing, "This is the company that the recruitment agency had contacted me about!" I became interested in Core Mix, which created the content I had seen and found interesting.

Until then, I had been working for a company that dispatched engineers and IT system personnel, and was seconded to an automobile manufacturer. My job was to be stationed on-site, supporting the implementation of software that managed the specifications of design documents by version, and maintaining that software. After about three years, things had settled down, and when the topic of being seconded to my next workplace came up, I thought about what I wanted to do. "I want to be someone who can build the IT infrastructure needed when a new company is launched." I realized that was what I wanted.

Therefore, I wanted to gain experience by becoming an in-house system engineer, so I registered with a recruitment agency and gathered information. As I mentioned earlier, I love entertainment, so I was interested in Coremix, a content creator, and went for an interview. There, I learned that manga artist Ryuji Tsujihara was on the board of directors. I also love cars, and was an avid reader of "Yoroshiku Mechadock." The fact that Tsujihara was a director at the company gave me a strong motivation for wanting to work there.

During the second interview, I heard about the company's current situation from a systems perspective, and I felt that I could be of help to the company by introducing new systems and devices, etc. I was a little worried about whether my three years of experience and knowledge would be useful, but my desire to work here won out, so when I received the job offer, I decided to join the company.

Work in the Information Systems Department at Coremix

The duties of the Information Systems Office include building and maintaining the company's infrastructure, supporting employees when using devices and software, keeping up with the latest IT-related information and trends, improving information security, license management, vendor control, and responding when problems occur. By working on these tasks on a daily basis, even those with little experience can acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to be in charge of information systems.

Of these, before joining the company, I was worried about whether I would be able to respond when a problem occurred. However, after joining the company, I was able to solve most of the problems by quickly and appropriately gathering information and steadily consulting with other people in the company. I think that responding to problems when they occur is something that new employees of the Information Systems Office are also worried about, so I hope that with my experience, I can become a good person to consult with when problems arise.

Coremix currently has around 80 employees, so it's an environment where I can work while remembering each and every face. As a result, I often hear people say "thank you" to me directly through my work. For me, this is one of the joys of working at Coremix. Speaking of joys in this job, I also feel happy when the number of inquiries from employees decreases. This is because it is proof that each individual has gained knowledge and is now able to do more on their own. Also, as I will explain later, the happy words I hear from employees when they are able to improve the efficiency of their work are also encouraging in my work.

Coremix Features

Coremix is a company that embraces new challenges. Even now, six years after I joined the company, the company is still enthusiastically working on new things. At Coremix, there are no restrictions in the name of discretion. Aside from the immediate tasks of supporting device usage and troubleshooting, there are many times when I have to think logically about what to do and how to do it, and act accordingly. While this can be challenging, I find it rewarding to imagine the kind of map I want to draw on a blank sheet of paper, then brainstorm with my colleagues to draw the lines, and I feel that this is an environment that suits me. I'm also pleased that the company encourages the use of cloud computing and generative AI, which gives it the flexibility to adapt to changing times.

I'm also fortunate to have data scientists and IT engineers as colleagues within the company, so if I so desire, I can acquire skills and knowledge that go beyond information systems work. I appreciate this environment. Working in close proximity to outstanding individuals changes the quality of the information I receive and my awareness of problems.

Future goals and desired personality type

As the Information Systems Office, we hope to contribute to further improving our employees' IT literacy. When we support device use, we make a conscious effort to give advice such as "This is what you should do next time," which gives each employee a wealth of knowledge and the impression that they are becoming more capable of handling things. In the future, we would like to provide employee training opportunities to further improve IT literacy. We would like to place particular emphasis on security.

I would also like to work on improving productivity through work efficiency. For example, and this is something I was able to do by utilizing my experience from my previous job, there is version control for manga data. I understood the importance of version control because I was in charge of version control for automobile design documents at my previous job. As this initiative, which I started when I joined the company, progress has been made, and we have heard from employees that the effort of digging through folder hierarchies to find images has been reduced, making it easier to respond to external inquiries. I would like to continue to promote work efficiency like this as an information systems department.

We hope to attract people who can respect the work of others to join the Information Systems Office. Coremix employees work in their respective positions, working on manga creation, PR and advertising, copyright management, and manga-related research and development. Each and every one of them is an important presence that supports Coremix, the manga publisher. The Information Systems Office, which interacts with all sorts of departments, wants to cherish an attitude of treating each person with respect. We hope to work with people who have that same attitude.
